History of Louzantrail

The Montanha Clube following the success of the previous editions of the competition which is now the Louzan1000 (integrated in the National Championship of Skyrunning - Km Vertical), organised the first edition of Louzantrail on September 23, 2000, at the time with the name of "Enduro Serra da Lousã ". The race was designated as Mountain Athletics integrating the ADAC (regional) championships.
The club, with its long and proven experience in organising Enduro events, brought this timing system to the beginnings of the trail running events in Portugal, using a system of 4 class sections with interconnection paths where participants had time frames to fulfill.
Soon, in 2000, the event was attended by athletes from teams that still compete in the national circuits of trail, such as Montanha Clube itself, CRP Ribafria, CA Barreira and Confraria Trotamonte.
